Muraoka Minoru was famous in the 1950s as Japan's premier
shakuhachi performer of Enka.
Though in his 80's he still performs regularly.
In the early sixties he was part of the shakuhachi trio Yokoyama
Katsuya formed prior to forming the San Bon
Kai with Aoki Reibo and Yamamoto Hozan.
He was also a shakuhachi maker of some note. This particular flute has a big sound, a clear tone, and a touch of the wild with lots of range. The balance between the notes is excellent and the flute is easy to play and with volume. |
