Rokusun For Sale

Two-stamp Rokusun by unknown maker. Probably made mid-50s. Nicely figured piece of bamboo. Small diameter, almost dainty. Good size for young player, someone with small hands, or someone who wants a Rokusun with a diameter in proportion to its length.

Decent, responsive sound. This one has been modified. The thumb hole was moved (see "#5 hole" image below) and other holes adjusted to improve the tuning. A small amount of ji and urushi were added to the bore to bring out Ro. The work was done in the workshop of Funagira Keiji (Senshu Shakuhachi). It now plays nicely in tune.

The utaguchi had a small, old crack and that was bound by Tom Deaver.

Both repairs done in 2004.

Price: $700
