Hi Everyone,
I have been fascinated by Sankyoku and would like to suggest a
few superb recordings I have found. All are on Lyrichord.

Japanese Koto Orchestra

Spirit of Samurai

Japanese Koto Consort

I should mention that on the last two the recording quality is
less than pristine, but the playing is excellent!

.........and since Bruce has begun quoting:

Two poems by the Zen monk and shakuhachi lover Ikkyu Sojun (1394-1481)

LOST IN DREAMS ONE BRIGHT NIGHT I HEARD
BOKUSHITSU PLAY THE SHAKUHACHI AND WAS MOVED

Bright new moon in the clear Autumn sky.
Over the distant rattle of dancing villagers' drums,
The clear line of the flute turns everything to tears,
Yet startles me from a long, sorrowful dream.

PORTRAIT OF TON-AMI WITH A SHAKUHACHI

Shakuhachi music stirs up both gods and demons.
Once again the world's number-one rake lacks a friend.
In the teeming universe just that music.
He leaves the painting to enter a bamboo flute.

                                That's all for now,
                                        Adam
