   Dear friends:

     An exceptional oportunity to learn about authentic Shakuhachi Honkyoku
  style "Nezasa-Ha Kinpu Ryu" arrives to shkuhachi enthusiasts in the U.S.
  Zen'yohji Keisuke, Nezasa-Ha Kinpu Ryu master vists San Francisco Bay Area
  after his invited participation in the World Shakuhachi Festival 98(Colorado).
   He will play Oushu-style (including Nezasa-Ha Kinpu Ryu) Honkyoku in
   the concert and provides workshops as well during his stay in the area.

Zen'yohji provides workshops
       on July 12th, 1pm and 14th, 7pm at Mary Sano's Studio of Duncan Dancing
      (245 Fifth St., Unit 314 San Francisco (415) 357-1817).
       on 13th, 7pm at Hideo's house,

Each workshop costs $10. Please sign up as soon as possible. The class
size is limited. Material (Kinpu style score) for the workshop will
be provided to those who sign up in advance.
Private classes may be provide upon request ($40).

       Zen'yohji learned shakuhachi (Komuso style) from his father,
disciple of Jin Nyodo at age of 6. He also studied from Okazaki Jishu (1976),
Jin Nyodo's student as well as from Jin Nyosei, son of Jin Nyodo.
He has been playing Honkyoku pieces from memory since he was child. That
 is the Jin schhol's style to elaborate and deepen their playing. He represents
best the spirit of Jin Nyodo who was his godfather.
He graduated the Tokyo University of Fine Arts (TUFA) (shakuhachi major)
in 1988 and completed his master degree in the graduate school of TUFA in 1990.
In TUFA, he learned Kinko style from Yamaguchi Goro, a living national
 treasure. He debuted by solo honkyoku (komuso shakuhachi style) in "tradition
al dance and music by young artists" sponsored by National Theatre (1990).
He has taught in TUFA as a lecturer in 1991,92,95 and 96. He leads a group
"Hyakusennkai" and teaches the members (over 30) besides teaching non-member
students at different places, He is a member of Kinko Shakuhachi Society,
Take-no-kai (graduates from TUFA) and Komuso Kenkyu Kai (a research organization for Komuso and their music).
        In the concert, Zen'yohji plays "Ohshu style" (northern Japan)
Honkyoku including "Kinpoo-Ryu" Honkyoku, his specialty.
Hideo Sekino explains the history of Komuso Shakuhachi - Honkyoku and also
plays "Wadatsumi" style Honkyoku with long shakuhachi.
