“Journey East”: The duo of Peter Ross and Gary Haggerty. Their
combined backgrounds and passion for jazz, Turkish, Indian,Celtic,
middle eastern, Balinese and Japanese music create a unique style best
described as “improvisational world music.”

Gary Haggerty has been performing traditional music from Ireland,
France, Turkey and the Middle East for the past twenty years. The
Turkish oud, violin, mando-cello and Indian sarod, are some of the
string instruments that he plays. Gary has performed and recorded with
well known world musicians such as Zakir Hussein , Latif Bolat and Emam.
He currently performs and tours with the Bay Area recording artists
Stella Mara.

Peter Ross’ musical style has evolved from his travels though Asia,
where he was exposed to the music of many cultures, his lifelong love of
jazz improvisation and from years of studying the shakuhachi, the zen
flute of Japan. Besides the Japanese and Arabian shakuhachi he plays a
variety of bamboo flutes that he makes. He has produced three popular
CD’s of his music.
