For the third year in a row, the winter solstice will be observed with a
concert of shakuhachi music. The event takes place on Monday, Dec. 21 at
8:56PM, the moment of the solstice, at St. Mark's Church, 2nd Ave. and 10th
St. in New York City. This is a free event. (718-499-7793)

The performance features a new work of mine "Winter Music" for 14
shakuhachis, which will be played from different locations throughout the
church, surrounding the audience with the sound of bamboo. We will also
perform "Solstice Spirit" which was written for last year's solstice, and
which is the title cut of my new recording (visit: www.sparkling
beatnik.com)

If you are in the New York area, you can tune in to WNYC's "New Sounds"
program with John Schaefer, 93.9, on Monday, Dec. 14 at 11PM and hear
"Solstice Spirit" as well as an excerpt of "Winter Music" performed live in
the studio.

Finally, check out my new web site at: www.sparklingbeatnik.com/nyoraku.

Wishing you all joy and peacefulness during the holiday season.
