Hello--

Philip Gelb already mentioned his new CD on Sparkling Beatnik Records, but I
also want to let you know about another new Sparkling Beatnik release,
Kurahashi Yoshio's long awaited first CD. In case you're not on the
Sparkling Beatnik e-mail list and didn't receive our latest newsletter,
here's a clip of the pertinent info:

"'Kyoto Spirit' is the first commercial solo album by the renowned Japanese
master musician KURAHASHI YOSHIO.

"Kurahashi-sensei's soulful playing has won him a devoted following
throughout Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. On 'Kyoto Spirit'
he presents some of the greatest traditional meditative pieces for
shakuhachi. We believe that this CD is one of the most important world music
releases of the year.

"Track list:
   1. Jinbo Sanya
   2. Azuma no Kyoku
   3. Mukaiji
   4. Kyorei
   5. Kumoi-jishi
   6. Sanya Sugagaki
   7. Takiochi
   8. Ajikan

"You can hear an excerpt from Kyoto Spirit on our website,
www.sparklingbeatnik.com. You can also order the CD online, or by calling
us at (800) 636-2291.

"At the same time, we are releasing a very different but equally exciting CD
featuring American composer and shakuhachi player PHILIP GELB together with
a group of well-known improvisors. This CD, entitled 'between/waves,'
includes two extended pieces that are sensual, challenging, and fascinating
in their subtle sonic detail. 'waves,' by CHRIS BROWN, is a tour-de-force
for bamboo flute, sampled sounds, and interactive electronics. 'the space
between' is a brilliant live improvisation on which Gelb is joined by
new-music pioneer PAULINE OLIVEROS, JON RASKIN of the ROVA saxophone
quartet, and Canadian pianist DANA REASON. This is a great example of master
musicians at work--and at play.

"Remember that you can order CDs (and Sparkling Beatnik t-shirts, of course)
safely and securely via our online shopping cart. We use CyberCash's secure
e-commerce technology--all transactions are encrypted. Come take a look
around: http://www.sparklingbeatnik.com.
Or if you don't like ordering electronically, just give us a call at (800)
636-2291."

Apologies for the commercial plug, but I thought this was info some of you
would be interested in...
