final notice: Michael Gould's weekend in Berkely

Date: Thu Apr 29 1999 - 21:27:19 PDT

Hello Shakuhachi enthusiasts,

here is the final message regarding Michael Gould's visit to the
sanfancisco bay area this weekend. There are still slots open for private
lessons on Sunday and there is space in the master class on Saturday.
Below are details, addresses and directions. Please email or call me if you
have any questions.
We hope this will be a recurring visit from Michael as he has family in
Stockton, California, not too far and he visits them a couple of times a
year. And stay tuned for more information coming up about Riley Lee's visit
in mid-august and the return of the grandmaster, Kurahashi Yoshio in late
august, early september!

Would anyone like to volunteer to give Michael a couch or bed to sleep on
friday and saturday nights? He is highly allergic to cats so it must be a
cat free environment. Otherwise he will have to rent a hotel room.

******You are welcome and encouraged to observe other students lessons. ******

Nik's house is on Spruce Street, Berkeley, a bit over one mile North of the UC
Campus. It is Brown Shingled, on the downhill (West) side of the street. It
is set behind some trees and a fence.

>From the 80 Freeway, get off at University Ave. and follow University Ave.
East until it dead-ends into Oxford Street at the UC campus. Turn Left
(North) on Oxford and continue to Rose. Turn Right (East) on Rose, go one
block to Spruce and turn left (North). Continue on Spruce up the hill. Go
past Eunice (which has a stop-sign). After Eunice, the next road coming into
Spruce from the left (from down hill) is Los Angeles, and that starts our
block. We are the third house from the top end of the block (near San
Benito).

If you have a local map, the main strees are Spruce between where Marin
crosses Spruce (just 2-blocks up the hill), and Los Angeles. The house is
DIRECTLY across from the the T-Intersection of Keith and Spruce. Keith is a
small street.

To come up the hill via Marin Ave. from the Albany area, go past the
Arlington Circle (aka the Marin Circle) and take either Marin up to Spruce
and turn right, or Los Angeles up the hill to Spruce and turn left.
