  Dear Ralf,

Being an Ex-trombonist of course it happens that I use the splattering
lipps technique by mistake or as a gimmick.
The produced sound: something in between a Mid Winter Horn, a Didjeridoo
and a Bear-Claw.
Actually it has become what a few years ago was called a "Zink" - with
brass-mouthtechnique and holes on the way.
The sound is far from what Shakuhachi is about.
But what's more important: an instrument changes as you play on it. It
will adapt to a certain to the tones you make, the specific pitches you make
and the loudness you like.
Using it as a trombone may not do you much good for the instrument and
it's feel.
  Better use your Vacuum-Cleaner-pipe :-)

Regards, Bas
