Here's my 2 cents on bamboo care.
After many years of playing and acquiring quite a few shakuhachi I've
only had one flute crack. I oil my flutes often with walnut oil, keep
them in plastic bags AND in dry climates or seasons I leave some
moisture inside the flute after playing. Maybe I've just had good luck.
