If this list is a good example, it appears that the 'terror' portion of the
recent attacks has succeeded. Intolerance, discord, hostility, etc. have
dramatically increased.

My question is whether members of this list are representative of the
general population?

Ultimately, terrorism is directed at minds rather then lives and/or
property.
