Bombarding the Middle East with Britney Spears cassettes and Hershey bars
has ALREADY contributed substantially to the mess we find ourselves in.
While I think I understand the intent of your suggestion, I'm not sure
Americans can send anything of their culture or their products without
arousing bad feelings.
Taking your suggestion seriously, for what of the West would the Talaban
find appreciation? The cultural dimensions of the current struggle have been
writ large and are not uncertain. Even Buddha isn't welcome in Afghanistan.
