As has been pointed out, Ch=F5shi and Shirab=E9 are basically =
intechangeable.
The term "Tak=E9 shirab=E9" (bamboo checking) is sometimes used.
This meaning of checking the condition is specific to shakuhachi =
playing.
In koto and other music circles, ch=F5shi is most likely to mean tuning.
