I found all the e-mail about age very interesting. I started studying
Shakuhachi with Ronnie Nyogetsu Seldin in May of 2000. Within 10 months I
completed his 18 page introductory book of mostly folk songs, 4 pieces in
Shoden (Gaikyoku) 4 pieces in Honkyoku.
In April I had a stroke, in July I under went open heart surgery. In October
I started over again, I just finished repeating the introductory book and I
start Kurokami on Tuesday.
I play because I love the Music, what it does to my spirit, and as an edge in
my Buddhist studies. you play because you love the music and playing, how
good you are is not an issue. You correct your errors and play on without
being judgmental.
I started playing as an Art practice for an Ango retreat at Fire Lotus Zendo
(ZCNYC)

I'm sixty-two years of age, I expect to play Kurokami for my 80th birthday,
how about you?
