Dear Takegawa-San,

Jinbo-San also perfected another piece- "Renpo-ken Tsuru no Sugomori"..
My teacher (Kurahhashi Yodo) learned to play Jinbo Sanya from his teacher-
Jin Nyodo. Indeed, it was probably his favorite piece. It has definitely
become mine, and also his son Kurahashi Yoshio's favorite.

As to why he only played one or two pieces, my teacher used to tell me that
Komuso would play only a few pieces their whole lives. After all, we're
after quality not quantity! In the same way he would tell me that the reason
that he played Shakuhachi was that he wanted to find the perfect sound to
cause world piece.. It has given me a marvelous goal and direction for the
past 30 years.

"Ichi on jo Buttsu" - means to become enlightened (or to become Buddha) from
one sound..
