Stav,

Do you mean "U"?

If so, it is usually played slightly 'meri' with only the third hole open,
at least for honkyoku.

I *believe* that many sankyoku players play it slightly 'meri' with 2 and 4
shaded, but I have no idea why.

Anyone else?
