I actually did this experiment just to be sure I wasn't just knee-jerking.
Placed a PVC coupling in a cup of tea (Lipton big bag) for the last 24
hours. It's a no go. PVC doesn't absorb water. I wished it would have
worked--what a lovely idea. The price tag on the coupling dyed nicely.
