Hi,

My vote is for the replies to remain public. Because people would be inadvertently sending valuable (?) information to individuals rather than the list.

My second choice is to do as Riley recommends:

If as a group, we are too lazy? to manually send our messages to the entire
list, then may I suggest that the 'from' box of all messages sent via the
list be set to automatically show 'shakuhachi list' rather than the name of
the person who sent it. The sender's name can be in the body of the message.

which would reduce the possibility of confusion. This automatically happens anyway if you subscribe to the digest.

By the way, since I have been subscribing to the digest form many of the messages have been garbled. Is there something about this format that changes text into computer gibberish?

Regards,

Brian
