Dear Ralf,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on haiku, and on using the shakuhachi as an
introduction to meditation. You ask if others use the shakuhachi in this
way. Yes, I've been playing brief intros to meditation for about ten years
at the Empty Bell retreat center in Watertown, MA.; and also when I'm on the
road, leading meditation retreats. The Empty Bell is primarily a center for
those on the Christian contemplative journey, and we do a lot of
Christian-Buddhist dialogue around the edges. Anyway, I'm glad to know that
others have noticed this special dimension of shakuhachi as a meditative
sacred instrument.

Peace,
"Jonas"
