I know the photo, though I haven't seen it in poster form. It's a great =
photo.
Coltrane was a big fan of shakuhachi and was apparently studying it at =
least in 1966-67. I imagine during his 1967 Japan tour he visited some =
teachers there. And if you listen closely to "Interstellar Space" I =
believe you can hear some Watazumi riffs--I think that's more than =
coincidence.
If anyone has more info on Coltrane's relationship to shakuhachi, I =
would really love to hear it. I've even been thinking of writing to =
Alice to see if she knows any more...
