There is a substantial difference between Mac systems 10.x and 9.x. When
Apple made the change to OS X they retained (included ) system 9. Tom is
running OS 10.2 which means system 9.2.1 is also installed and will run in
what's called "Classic Mode". Apparently Digi OO2 (for reasons perhaps only
know to them) will only run on OS 9.2.2. I'm guessing 9.2.2 is the last
upgrade that'll ever be done to pre-OSX systems.

Right now Mac OSX machines will automatically switch to OS 9.x whenever that
system is needed. Anytime I run Hypercard, a particular astronomy program or
Mathematica my machine switches over to OS 9. Either system (9 or 10) can
be upgraded without effecting the other.

Tom's problem isn't really a 9 verses 10 problem, it's about getting 9.2.1
replaced by 9.2.2. Once he does that the two systems (9.x and 10.x) will
continue to happily coexist on his machine.

Nelson
