Some master shakuhachi players/teachers have said that what happens in the
lesson-practice-performance space has nothing at all to do with shakuhachi.
Nomura Katsuya, a master baseball manager (who, unfortunately, had to quit
because of a tax scandal involving his wife) has said publicly that what
happens on the baseball diamond has nothing at all to do with baseball.
