Anything one does in life can be spiritual. It depends on the frame of mind
in which it is done.
I am Catholic and I always offer my playing and practicing of the shakuhachi
to my Lord. In return He allows me to play. I like to practice in a very
concentrated with reduced ambient lighting and a well lighted score. It helps
me to focus better.
As we all know Playing and practicing any musical instrument is hard work. At
the same time it can be an uplifting experience, regardless of it being Bach,
The Beetles or Nakao Tozan. Your own spirit can be uplifted for a long time
after you stop.
