I've been playing for 1 1/2 years. I too wear progressives. The problem may
not be the glasses but the position of the music. I play and practice with
the music almost at eye level which means I don't have look down.
I have seen players who place the music on the floor and bend in half to read
it. That has got to restrict your breathing.
My advice is raise the music and tradition be d...........
