<P>FYI, friends,</P>
<P>You might want to check out the Anasazi flutes in&nbsp;the musuem in Tuscon, Arizona see below. Also, Michael Allen, "coyoteoldman" has done considerable research into them and makes a very authentic replica&nbsp; <A href="http://www.shopworks.com/coyote/index.cfm/action/product/prodid/000EFBB9-0E35-1DF0-8FA1010D0A0AD036/userid/0008250E-AD12-1F52-88E101120A0A185F">http://www.shopworks.com/coyote/index.cfm/action/product/prodid/000EFBB9-0E35-1DF0-8FA1010D0A0AD036/userid/0008250E-AD12-1F52-88E101120A0A185F><BR><BR><FONT size=4><STRONG>Anasazi Flutes from the Broken Flute Cave </STRONG></FONT></P>
<P>In the summer and fall of 1931, Earl H. Morris led an expedition from The Carnegie Institution of Washington to the Prayer Rock district of NorthEastern Arizona. His team unearthed thousands of artifacts. Among them were wooden flutes that were constructed between 620 and 670 A.D. </P>
<P>The flutes were transferred from the Carnegie Institution to the <A href="

<DIV></DIV>&gt;I' d be interested in the plans for either of these flutes... could you
<DIV></DIV>&gt;point me to weblinks?
<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;I'm especially interested in the Hisat'sinom as the Hopi call them (known to
<DIV></DIV>&gt;archaeologists as the "Anasazi" a Navajo word for "ancient enemies", I'm a
<DIV></DIV>&gt;bit uncomfortable with the term... ;*) ) and am using their plans for the
<DIV></DIV>&gt;traditional pithouse as a model for my own place... in a few weeks I'll be
<DIV></DIV>&gt;headed up to the Canyon de Chelly... shakuhachi and flute music just seems
<DIV></DIV>&gt;to belong up in these quiet canyons and mesas... the songs of Kokepelli...

<DIV></DIV>&gt;
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Very interesting, Brett. I have a model of a hopi flute that has five holes,
<DIV></DIV>&gt;though it is rim blown. The five note pentatonic scale for the native
<DIV></DIV>&gt;american flute is the same as the shak, and I have noted other correlations.
<DIV></DIV>&gt;The anasazi also had a six hole rim blown flute with approx 2.35 octaves.
<DIV></DIV>&gt;Very difficult to play, but worth the effort. I found the measurements on
<DIV></DIV>&gt;the web and made a replica.
