I recall hearing that some telephone linemen (the folks who shinny up
poison ivy- covered utility poles) spend time in the summer collecting
jewelweed (Impatiens capensis), a succulent plant that grows in the same
habitat as poison ivy. They put it in a blender and freeze the juice, which
they thaw and drink in the spring as a poison ivy prophylaxis.
