Greetings to the list -

Peace and blessing to all of you during this new day!!

This is an appeal to any list members and players who are in or near the LA
area. An acquaintance that I made during a Japanese antiques and sword show
here in San Antonio last year is in need of a shakuhachi player or players.

During the show, I had the wonderful opportunity and experience to play
during a cutting demonstration (swords) led by James Williams and Tony
Alvarez (see www.bugei.com and www.shihokazeryu.com/news.html). These are
two of the biggest names in the sport. It was so cool. As the guys would be
explaining the cuts they were going to make, I'd play very soft and
reserved, then as they would go into their cuts, I'd get louder and more
'spirited'. It was very improvisational. Big Tony heard me playing in the
main viewing hall for the swords and antiques, and liked it enough to ask
that I play during their demo.

Net/net....he (Big Tony) is opening his own dojo the end of this month (the
28th), and would love to have a shakuhachi player there. If anybody might
know of anyone in or near the Costa Mesa area that might be interested in
helping Tony out, please contact me off-list at tim@toolbox.net. I have no
idea whether there'd be any sort of a stipend in it or not for the player,
but I doubt it. One can always ask.

If there are any takers, I'll get you all the contact information you need
to get you in touch with Big Tony.

Thanks in advance for any considerations.
