Well, there's always the sense of "common usage" that's defined by
what's called for in the notation. Many Tozan duets and trios call
for specific length, longer than 1.8 flutes. And there are two Kinko
pieces that specifically call for a 2.0 - the trio version of Kumoi
Jishi and a Sanya Sugagaki duet.

If you're looking for an excuse to take up collecting various
lengths, start working on the Fudo pieces. #3 in the set calls for
a 1.6, a 1.8, a 2.1, and a 2.4 -
