Dear Karl,

Most folks would say that kyosui is a non-musical sound more appropriate to
"meditation", but now that you mention it, it might also be good in conflict
situations or in prayer, for (as you write) "mediation", connecting otherwise
distinct and contradictory realms of reality. Yoshio Kurahashi calls it a
"doorway sound".
