Hmmm......then I'm probably even more confused now. If "The doing is about
the focus", then something is being done, isn't it?

Let's look at it via the shakuhachi. If I (the westerner) have a goal (an
end result) of blowing meri notes well, then I know that I will have to wor=
k
at it. I will certainly focus on what I am doing. And as it was stated
before, sometimes it will be good and sometimes not so good. But whether it
is 'good' or not is gauged by what it should sound like (proper pitch, etc.=
)

But in the process, I simply love blowing into a piece of bamboo. Is part o=
f
the lesson here to be less 'concerned' about what the "end result" is, and
simply experience the joy in the journey?

If that's the case, then I understand, and add that part of the value of
doing a thing is having done it well.
