[Shaku] Playing the high Fs

Hi!

I have a question to the people on the list:

I am a ji-nashi player from Denmark, and at the moment concentrating on=20
playing contemporary music.
I have recently received music by the very interesting, but severely=20
underrated, British composer Frank Denyer, who wrote for Iwamoto Yoshikaz=
u.=20
Just looking through the score, I thought some of the pieces were not=20
written for 1,8. There are various reasons for me thinking that, but the =
one=20
I want to ask you about is, that the very high F comes up several places.=
=20
The F, I am talking about, I think Americans call it F6, so the F above t=
he=20
stave (with 3 extra lines) ot the 3rd F after middle C. I have heard =20
players say that this F doesn not exist on the 1,8 shakuhachi. Denyer=20
insists that Iwamoto played 1,8, and on the recordings he certainly hits =
the=20
high Fs crystal clear. Unfortunately it's no longer possible to contact=20
Iwamoto and ask him about it.

So, my question is: Have any of you found the fingering for playing the F=
6=20
or the F sharp on 1,8?
I know up in that register the fingering varies from shakuhachi to=20
shakuhachi, but learning about how others do it may inspire...

Take care,
Kiku

PS. Lats person who posted asked where the women are... Here's one!
