Blowing Zen -- An Evening of Meditative Music
July 23rd, 7-8:30 pm, SF Zen Center - Conference Center
Bamboo Bell presents Blowing Zen, an evening of meditative music. Nelson
Lee, shakuhachi (bamboo flute) artist, performs honkyoku, the original
repertoire of the shakuhachi. The practice of playing honkyoku is called
"Blowing Zen" (suizen in Japanese), and is a term coined by the komuso Zen
monks who first began playing honkyoku on the shakuhachi. This event
promises to be meditative, powerful, and healing.
Blowing Zen will be performed on July 23rd, 7-8:30pm, at the San Francisco
Zen Center, Conference Center, located at 308 Page Street (at Laguna) in San
Francisco. Admission is $12 (in advance) or $15 at the door. For
