As far as i was aware the oldest flute (that's definitely been accepted =
as a flute) is made from a mamoth tusk and is 35,000 years old.
There is also a bear cub femur bone that was found near a Neanderthal =
fire place dating somewhere between 35 - 90,000 years old that shows all =
the signs of being a flute - but a load of stuffed up archeologists =
won't accept it as such. I personally think a lot of this rejection is =
due to it being Neanderthal and a lot of modern human scientists don't =
wish to acknowledge their creativeness because they feel threatened in =
someway.
I personally like the idea that Neanderthal people were playing music =
50,000 years ago. Rock and Roll!
