there are lots of ways to make a flute if you have the
wonder and imagination. for instance, make a tapered
bore by burning the bore out with different sized
steel rods. experiment with the mouth peice. It
doest have to look like a jap shakuhachi if you dont
want it to. try filing the mouth piece angle inwards
instead of outwards. try a flat edge or a
concave/concurve edge. try huge finger holes and
small holes. try burning finger holes straight
in/slanted upwards, slanted downwards. try sanding
the skin of and then imediately binding the flute with
fishing line. if you have lots of bamboo do lots of
experimenting. after all the chinese flute and the
japanese flute is different, why cant yours evolve as
well since your not trained by anyone in making them.
as long as they sound good whats it matter?? unless
you want to make a concert tuned master shakuhachi
that is :)
