I just got a very wierd lp today. "Japanese Folk
Songs, featuring The Shakuhachi (bamboo flute), with
Katsuya Yokoyama". Great I thought - Yokoyama playing
minyo! But then on the back, it explains, except for 2
modern tracks, it is all honkyoku! So then I listened
to it. No, it is folk songs, but just the shakuhachi,
and some very wierd funky western stuff on top! And it
even had 2 honkyoku, Tamuke and San-an, again with
this wierd funky stuff over the top! From 1972.
Thought I'd tell you all in case it is of interest, or
if anyone has it and has any comments! Actually,
Tamuke is quite interesting!
