Hi All,

I wanted to let you know that jinashi shakuhachi master Atsuya Okuda will be coming to Northern California for 10 days in August (August 15th-25th) He will be giving two performances:

Friday, August 19th at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery, 2304 McKinley Ave, Berkeley, 94703. Phone (510) 848-3440. By donation.

Tuesday, August 23rd at Celedon Fine Teas, 1111 Solano Ave, Albany, CA 94706 Phone (510) 524-1696. This evening at Celedon will be "A Celebration of Japanese Tea and Music". There will be delicious Japanese teas of the highest quality as well as kaiseki treats (handmade mochi, etc) and of course, a fantastic shakuhachi performance by Atsuya Okuda. Cost will be announced shortly.

Additionally, Okuda-san will set aside some time to teach private lessons. This is a wonderful opportunity to study with a master teacher and to explore the world of jinashi shakuhachi. Please call (510) 559-9305 for additional information and to schedule a lesson.

There will be an informal get-together with Okuda-san on Sunday, August 21st. The time and place will be announced shortly. Shakuhachi friends are welcome to come and spend some time with Okuda-san, hang out and have a relaxed, fun time.

For fans of Okuda's debut CD "The Sound of Zen" the good news to report is that part of the reason for his visit to Northern California this summer is to record a follow-up CD. He will spend several days at the legendary Fantasy Studios recording the new CD. The CD will be produced by Henry Kaiser and Josh Michaell.

For any additional information, please contact Josh Michaell at (510) 559-9305 or email at mahaprana@comcast.net
