To my Shakuhachi Family and Friends,

Brenda and I have just returned on Friday, from our New Orleans Vacation!
New Orleans is my favorite city in the USA to vacation. We spent 2 days
there before the onslaught of Katrina.

We were very lucky that we happened to have a rental car on Sunday morning
(August 28), and were able to get out a few hours before the winds, and the
Hurricane. If it wasn't for the fact that we wanted to go on this special
eco-tour of the bayous that wouldn't pick us up we wouldn't have rented a
car. And add to that , a mistake insisting that we have the car for two
days- and you have the scenario! We drove 16 hours (in what was really a 6
1/2 hour drive- via going East through Slidell, and then North and East
through much of Mississippi, before cutting back down Southwest until we hit
Lake Charles, Louisiana. We then drove due East to Galveston, Texas, where
we stayed at a nice Hotel on the gulf until Friday morning.

We left a bunch of "Toiletry Kits" that me made up, etc. with refugees in
the Houston Airport - did what we could- talked to many devastated people. I
am afraid that with all of the death and destruction all around us, we are
still depressed, suffering from what can be called "Survivor's Syndrome."

I know that some of you have been worried about us, and I apologize for once
again (I did the same kind of email after 911, as my apartment is only a few
blocks from ground zero!) posting something that is non-Shakuhachi related.

Much Love to you all,
Ronnie Nyogetsu Reishin Seldin
