[Shaku] Akikazu Nakamura in NYC

Hi all,
If you're in NYC on Nov 11th, you have to catch this
show.

Music From Japan will present two concert programs
during its 31st season. The first focuses on the
Japanese bamboo flute, shakuhachi.

Festival 2006 opens on Feb 11 at Merkin Concert Hall
with Akikazu Nakamura on shakuhachi and Michiyo Yagi
on 20-string koto. The program of traditional and
contemporary works features the world premiere of
MFJ-commission by Masao Endo. A pre-concert talk by
Ralph Samuelson will examine the shakuhachi today.

Here's the breakdown:
7pm -Talk by Ralph Samuelson
8pm - Part 1 - Pieces in the Komuso Tradition: Saji,
Tsuru no Sugomori (Nesting of the Crane), Jinbo Sanya
and Shika no Tone (with Ralph Samuelson).

Part two Contemporary Works - Masao Endo, Spiritual
Ablutions (2005), Akikazu Namakura, Hi no Rasen
(1986), Akikazu Nakamura, Shakko (1992).
