Hi Mary
I liked what you wrote. Regarding the above paragraph,
who are the players whose sound you like? Or certain
recordings? Or any particular old/new shakuhachi
makers you like?
I love what you say - "tragic sound".
I am in a quest to make shakuhachi with a wonderful
tone colour and also good pitch. I think it may not be
possible to have perfect volume, pitch, balance AND
tone colour. These days the customers are so fussy
about pitch and when buying shakuhachi. It pushes the
makers. Do you feel it influencing the tone colour?
