Look more closely: utzoo is on the 1 June 1981 map. (Copy on request.)
My records say we joined the net on 13 May 1981. I think that is the date
of our new-site posting, although I'd have to dig in the archive tapes
to be sure of that. The oldest article I have handy -- my report on the
V7 ldiv/lrem bug -- is dated 21 May.
I'm certainly willing to have utzoo considered the first international
site; just thought I'd mention that the BNR site has a weak claim on
the title. Its feed, like our initial one, was from duke. If anyone
cares, I can probably dig up date and site name. Given that it never
announced itself and never posted anything, one could argue about whether
it really counts.
