Seriously, I did indeed feed those two groups into fa.sf-lovers and
fa.human-nets at Berkeley somewhere around late 1980 or early 1981.
It was a one-way gateway - ARPANET into Usenet only, done with recnews,
as I recall.

This did provide some key traffic, but I think it wasn't as important
to the growth of the network as just having lots of visibility - going
around giving talks and the like.
