A lot of it *has* migrated to lists and moderated newsgroups. The
wider, noisier, untameable Usenet is where people find each other,
and smaller groups is where people who have found each other can
retreat for more depth. It seems like a symbiotic relationship: You
have a big, noisy, amorphous, anarchistic commons, and the tools
for all citizens to create their own subgroups. The number and health
of those public and private groups of 15-100, I believe, has a
positive influence on the whole shebang.
