I think the important thing here is that blowing is perpetuated.
Historically the schools developed. And certain groupes established
their style of playing and instrument construction. We are becoming a
world society and musicians are embracing many forms not previously
explored. Someone may start out with a specific style, but once that is
mastered it only enhances one's playing and understanding to cross over
into other schools of thought. Even in western classical music one hears
more than just the european masters played. Any musical form that is
compatible with the shakuhachi can and should be explored to the
enrichment of all parties evolved. I'm not suggesting a homogenization
of style, but only the ability to
cross over into other forms.
