Hi everyone,
Glad my last email is stimulating a little conversation. While
the benefits of long tone practice are pretty obvious, the exaggerated
vibrato exercises I've been praciticing have significantly loosened up
my embouchere and are causing me to explore new blowing angles.
As for Bruce's mention of breathing exercises, I have been
building up my stamina by challenging myself to play continuously during
portions of my daily practice. Since I am playing a good deal of
ensemble music these days, I will take a piece such as Rokudan and play
it 3 or 4 times without stopping (about 20-30 min). By the final
repetion you are either breathing beautifully or not needing to breath
at all!
Happy practicing,
Adam
