Hello everyone,
In my continual search for Japanese music recordings, I keep
coming across shakuhachi master/inventor Kikusui Kofu. I have only
found fragmentary information so far about his life and musical
contributions and am interested if any of you know more. Of particular
interest to me is the Hochiku or thunder bamboo shakuhachi (mentioned in
"Music of the Shakuhachi" on Folkways) which I'm guessing is Kikusui's
creation.
Thanks,
Adam
P.S. Couldn't help chuckling at the thought of rigging up the
shakuhachi with multiple attachable microphones. Certainly high tech
meets low tech!
