To: Friends and Aquaintances of David Wheeler:
Dear All,
Almost a year has past since I arrived in Boulder as visiting faculty at
the CU College of Music and organizer of World Shakuhachi Festival 1998.
Both of these projects are (for the most part) behind be now, thanks to
many contributions in many ways from all of you and many others.
The College of Music made a gamble in putting on World Shakuhachi Festival
1998, since such an event has never taken place outside of Japan, and never
anywhere on a similar scale. All attendees, participants, audience and
performers have had good things to say about it--so I would call it a
success. For more on this, please visit our updated website at
<http://www.colorado.edu/music/WSF98>. The shakuhachi is now out on the
world stage in a way that was unimagined only months ago. And this thanks
to all of you.
I return to Japan now, to pick up where I left off in August of last year,
teaching, performing and writing about the shakuhachi and other aspects of
the traditional Japanese performing arts.
I will be living at:
5-39-2 Denen Chofu #305
Ota-ku, Tokyo 145 JAPAN
Phone 81-3-3721-9693
Fax 81-3-3721-9694
Please call, fax or send me a note if you like. I will be getting email soon.
I thank you all for being a part of my life on one way or another during
the past year and wish you all the best of health and happiness.
Sincerely,
David Wheeler
