source for cured bamboo

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of a good, inexpensive source for cured bamboo
poles suitable for flutemaking? I have been experimenting on Shakuhachi
making and have thus far produced a pile of failures.Nonetheless, I have
been having loads of fun on this journey.
I live in New York City and the poles around the flower district are
expensive and thin-walled. I'd greatly appreciate any leads.
