The Traditional Source of Shakuhachi Music
On June 20, Masakazu Yoshizawa will begin the first in a series of
concerts and lectures on the history of the shakuhachi tradition
and music. Mr. Yoshizawa will be playing historically important
pieces. These pieces date from the 7th to the 16th centuries. Mr.
Yoshizawa will also perform contemporary pieces which have strong
traditional influences.
The series will take place Sunday, June 20th, 1999, at 2:00 in the
afternoon in the Cultural Room on the 5th Floor of the JACCC
(Japan/American Community Cultural Center) 244 South San Pedro in
Little Tokyo, Los Angeles.
