I used to oil my flutes diligently. It was a very enjoyable and theraputic
activity.

I stopped oiling them partly because one maker told me that it wasn't
necessary. He said that oily flutes that do crack are difficult to repair
as the glue won't stick. I've not oiled any flutes for the past two decades
or so. No problems so far....
