Sparkling Beatnik recording artist Ronnie Nyogetsu Seldin has recently
received a Koku-An Dai-Shihan (Grand Master's license at the level of
Kyu-Dan, or 9th level) from Japan's Living National Treasure in shakuhachi,
Aoki Reibo. Ronnie was also given the name Reishin (Heart/Mind of the Bell)
to go along with it. This was Nyogetsu's second Dai-Shihan; the first was
awarded to him in the Chikuiusha line by his teacher Kurahashi Yodo (in
Kinko-Ryu and Fuke Meian) in 1980. Nyogetsu is the first non-Japanese to
receive this high award.
Congratulations to Ronnie Nyogetsu Reishin Seldin!
Phil.
